The story of this super-ambitious chef takes us back to the age of 14. Inspired by chefs such as Jamie Oliver and Guy Vancauteren, Martijn began his culinary journey to become a top chef with the ultimate goal: a Michelin star.

During this journey, he became increasingly exposed to the world of gastronomy, which fits exactly with the drive Martijn has always had. That journey eventually brought him a well-established list of awards, including "Dessert of the Year" by Gault&Millau and "Rising Star" by The Best Chef Awards. Five years after opening his restaurant, Rebelle*, Martijn's ultimate goal became a reality. In 2022, he was awarded his first Michelin star.

Restaurant Rebelle*: Contemporary, youthful, and innovative

Martijn's childhood dream: owning a restaurant. At age 30 , this dream became a reality, and Martijn opened restaurant Rebelle* in West Flanders' Marke in 2017.

Rebelle is a meeting place for young and old in search of affordable gastronomy. Quality is central on all levels as is the use of honest, local, and sustainable products. The cuisine is contemporary, youthful, and innovative, with an eye for detail & balance. Creative dishes are served, with influences from Asian culture. The dishes are intertwined with the chef's identity, accessible and minimalist with a little sparkle and a pinch of spice.
