Preparation method

  • Mix the white flour, white caster sugar, unsalted butter, and the egg until it forms a ball of dough.
  • Leave to rest for one hour.
  • Peel the apples and cut into pieces of equal size.
  • Mix the apple pieces with the cinnamon sugar, bread crumbs, corn starch, and unsoaked raisins.
  • Mix the white flour, granulated sugar, unsalted butter, and mixed spice biscuits into a crumble.
  • Press the dough into a greased baking tin or sheet.
  • Spread the apple filling over the dough.
  • Sprinkle the crumble over the filling and gently press down.
  • Bake the cake in an oven pre-heated to 170°C for about 50 minutes.

Serving suggestions

  • Serve with coffee or tea.
  • As a component in a dessert with cinnamon ice cream and vanilla sauce.
