Preparation method

  • Melt the butter in a saucepan at low heat. The butter should be melted, but not hot!
  • Grind the almonds and the sugar into a powder in a blender.
  • Sieve the flour twice and add to the almond and sugar mixture.
  • Scrape out the inside of the vanilla pod and add to the mixture.
  • Stir in the unbeaten egg whites.
  • Add the melted butter and stir into a smooth mixture.
  • Bake at 180°C for 6-8 minutes until golden brown.

Serving suggestions

  • Serve with tea or coffee.
  • As part of a dessert.
  • As a sponge base for a cake.
