This preparation gives the potato a beautifully crispy exterior and a lovely soft interior. Experiment with different herbs to create a delicious side dish.

Preparation method

  • Wash the potatoes.
  • Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  • Slice into the potatoes every five millimetres across the width. Cut as deeply as possible without cutting through the potato. 
  • Place the potatoes in an oven dish and rub in well with olive oil.
  • Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  • Bake the potatoes for about one hour until done. The cooking time will depend on the size of the potatoes. 

Serving suggestions

  • As a potato side dish served with beef from the barbecue, spareribs, pork chops, etc.
  • As a potato side dish for a buffet.
  • Use fragrant herbs to stick in between the slices to give the potatoes extra flavour.
