Ingredients

fresh figs

fresh thyme leaves

fresh marjoram leaves

 

 

sea salt and black pepper

balsamic vinegar

lemon

olive oil

Preparation method

  • Cut off the stalks and the bottom of the figs and then cut the figs in slices about 5mm thick.
  • Place the slices in a dish or on a suitable plate.
  • Drizzle over the olive oil and balsamic vinegar and then sprinkle with sea salt and black pepper.
  • Decorate with the lemon zest and fresh thyme and marjoram leaves.
  • Drizzle over a few drops of lemon juice to taste.
  • Serve cold.

Serving suggestions

  • As a component in an amuse-bouche, e.g. with anchovies.
  • As part of a starter, e.g. with Parma ham.
  • As part of a starter, e.g. with goat’s cheese and pine nuts.
  • As an accompaniment to red meat or poultry.
