unroasted peanuts

peanut oil

sugar (optional)

Preparation method

  • Dry roast the peanuts in a 150°C oven for 15 minutes. Make sure they are golden brown.
  • In a blender, grind the peanuts and salt (and sugar, if using) with half of the oil until fine.
  • How smooth your peanut butter will be is up to you.
  • Peanuts do not always contain the same amount of oil, so check your result and decide whether you need to add more peanut oil.
  • Store the peanut butter in sterilised jars or vacuum bags.

Serving suggestions

  • As a component of a breakfast or breakfast buffet.
  • As a basic ingredient for further preparation, e.g. satay sauce or peanut butter ice cream.
  • As a spread on a sandwich with cucumber, bean sprouts, fried onions and Sriracha.
