Ingredients

butter, unsalted

shallot

crab meat

lemon

fresh ginger, grated

ground cayenne pepper

sherry

Preparation method

  • Melt the butter.
  • Finely chop the shallot and gently fry in the butter.
  • Add the grated nutmeg, cayenne pepper, sherry, lemon juice and zest, and mix well.
  • Mix the butter with the crab meat.
  • Divide between the bowls.
  • Refrigerate for at least two hours.
  • Serve at room temperature.

Serving suggestions

  • Serve the potted crab with bread, toast, or crostini.
  • As part of a composition with several preparations of crab or shellfish.
