sambal trassie

galangal

palm sugar

piece of lemongrass

Indonesian bay leaf

cube

creamed coconut

tbsp

Preparation method

  • Wash and trim the French beans.
  • Grind the onion, garlic, sambal, galangal, sugar, and salt into a paste.
  • Gently fry the paste in the oil until the onions soften.
  • Add the French beans and gently fry for a few minutes.
  • Add the cube of creamed coconut, the lemongrass, and the Indonesian bay leaf.
  • If the mixture becomes too dry, add a splash of water.
  • Allow the dish to cook until the oil is released from the creamed coconut.
  • Remove the lemongrass and bay leaf before serving. 

Serving suggestions

  • You can add pink prawns.
  • Serve as part of an Indonesian rijsttafel (rice table).
