Mushrooms are delicious on crispy toast. Vary this component by adding herbs during baking, e.g. rosemary or thyme.

Preparation method

  • Fry the bread in the butter until golden brown.
  • Place the fried bread on a piece of kitchen towel to absorb any excess fat.
  • Chop the mushrooms into equal pieces.
  • Fry the mushrooms until done but still firm.
  • Season to taste with a little lemon juice, the parsley, and salt and pepper.
  • Place the mushroom mixture on the toast.

Serving suggestions

  • As part of a breakfast or lunch.
  • As an accompaniment to a mushroom soup or mushroom bouillon. 
  • Cut the toast in round pieces and serve as an amuse-bouche.
  • As part of an appetizer, e.g. with components of lettuce, red onion, and olives.
