Vanilla crumble

This is a great recipe for crumble dough as a finish for fruit or pastries but it's also a great way to add a crispy component to your dessert.

Ingredients

vanilla pods

vanilla extract

Preparation method

  • Mix the butter and sugar until smooth.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients to create a lovely crumble.
  • Allow to set in the refrigerator for at least two hours.
  • Bake in an oven preheated to 150°C for fifteen minutes. 

Serving suggestions

  • As part of a dessert with components of rhubarb, grapefruit, and white chocolate.
  • As a finishing touch to a cake, vlaai (sweet tart), or baked fruit.
