Pekmez is a Turkish grape syrup with a flavour that is a combination of sweet and sour. This makes it an excellent flavour addition for savoury dishes.

Preparation method

  • Mix the yoghurt with the pekmez.

Serving suggestions

  • As a garnish in soups, e.g. pumpkin soup.
  • As a component in a cold starter, e.g. with components of celery, butterhead lettuce, green herbs, or tomato.
  • As part of an amuse-bouche, e.g. with mackerel and eggplant components.
