Cooking with steam is the best way to prepare food so that it retains the most colour and flavour. As the temperature of the steam is higher than that of boiling water, a product that is steamed is ready much quicker than when it is boiled or blanched. There are three different methods of steaming: the traditional method of steaming above a liquid, steaming in a steam oven, and steaming under pressure in a pressure cooker.
Equipment required: Steamer / steamer rack / suitable pan / steamer basket.
Can be used for: Tender beef cuts, breast fillets, fillet of bass, fillet of sole, broccoli, pasta, mushrooms.
