Blackberries are a very popular fruit. The fruits are sweet and juicy and are made up of tiny little drupes, which makes blackberries an aggregate fruit. Blackberries can be found in abundance in the Netherlands during summer. The taste of the blackberries depends on the variety. European blackberries are fairly mild, while the American variety is more intense and herby in flavour.
