Bread is made from grains such as wheat, rye, rice, barley, corn, buckwheat and spelt. It also always contains water, yeast or another leavening agent such as sourdough and salt. Bread provides a lot of nutrients for relatively few calories. Unlike white bread and brown bread, wholemeal bread is made from whole grains, which means it contains the most nutrients, vitamins and minerals. 

Basic techniques: baking, toasting, drying, crumbling, spreading, topping.

Taste combinations: butter, cheese, salt, tomato, garlic, processed meats, jam, olive oil.
