The octopus is a mollusc that can be found in all the world's oceans and seas. Its diet includes crab, shrimp, lobster, fish, and other molluscs. The meat of this animal is very tough and needs pretreatment before it can be eaten. In the past, it used to be thrown repeatedly onto a hard surface with considerable force so that the cell structure of the meat would break down. These days, the industry uses centrifuges to tenderise the octopus with a brief step included to heat it up.
