Prawns is the common name for most large species of prawn. Prawns live in salt water and feed on small sea creatures and plants. Most species are imported frozen from Asia. Because of the high global demand for prawns, they are farmed on a large scale. The size of the prawns is displayed on the packaging, for example 13/15 or 16/20. This indicates the average number of prawns with heads attached per kilogramme.
